8(a) Digest collects as little as it can and does not sell or rent anything it collects. This page explains what that means in practice.

What we collect

Your email address, when you subscribe. That is the only thing we ask you for. There is no name field, no company field, and no phone number.

Payment details, which we never see. Paid subscriptions are processed by Stripe. Your card number goes to Stripe directly and is never stored on or transmitted through this site. We can see that a payment succeeded and when it renews. We cannot see your card.

Basic usage measurement. The site uses the analytics built into Ghost, the platform this publication runs on. It records page views so we know which issues get read. There is no Google Analytics here, no advertising pixel, and no third-party tracking script of any kind.

How you found us. When someone subscribes, Ghost records which page or referrer they came from. This tells us whether people arrive from search, social, or a link in an issue.

Cookies

Reading this site sets no cookies. You can browse every page, including the archive, without one.

Cookies appear only when you sign in or use the subscribe widget, and they exist to keep you logged in and to remember your session. They are not used for advertising or for tracking you across other sites.

Who else handles your data

Three companies, all of them because the site cannot run without them:

Ghost hosts this publication and stores the subscriber list.
Stripe processes payments.
jsDelivr is the content network that serves the subscribe widget and site search. Like any content network, it receives the IP address of the browser requesting a file.

That is the entire list. Nobody else receives your data.

What we will never do

We will never sell, rent, or trade your email address.

We will never share the subscriber list with a partner, an advertiser, or a data broker.

We will never use the subscriber list to market anything other than this publication. If other products are ever built, they will not be sold to you on the basis of your being a subscriber here.

These are commitments, not preferences. The value of a publication like this depends on being able to read it without becoming a lead.

How long we keep things

Your email address is kept for as long as you are subscribed. If you unsubscribe, it is retained only as long as needed to keep you unsubscribed and to meet the record-keeping obligations that come with having taken a payment. Ask us to delete it and we will.

Your choices

You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any issue, or from your account.

You can ask what we hold about you, and we will tell you.

You can ask us to correct or delete it, and we will, except where we are required to keep a payment record.

To do any of these, email contact@8adigest.com. A person reads it. We aim to respond within thirty days and usually much sooner.

Security

Subscriber data lives in Ghost and payment data lives in Stripe, both of which maintain security practices well beyond what an independent publication could build on its own. No system is perfect, and we will tell subscribers promptly if we ever learn their data was exposed.

Children

This publication is written for people running federal contracting businesses. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.

Changes to this page

If this policy changes in a way that affects what we collect or who receives it, the date at the top will change and subscribers will be told in an issue. We will not quietly broaden it.
