8(a) Digest is an independent publication covering federal 8(a) set-aside and sole-source contracting.
Every week it reads the 8(a) notices posted to SAM.gov, keeps the ones that matter, and writes down what each one actually wants and who it fits. That is the whole product.
Why it exists
SAM.gov is a genuinely good system that publishes real opportunities, and it was built for the people who write the notices rather than the people trying to win them. A certified firm without a business development team is reading a document written for somebody else's job.
The certification is worth real money, and a nine-year clock is running against it. Finding out what posted this week should not consume the time you need for bidding.
How it is made
Every 8(a) set-aside and sole-source notice posted in the prior week is collected, screened, and written up before publication. Several hundred notices post in a typical week. The 8(a) ones are a small fraction of that, and they are the ones that make the issue.
Nothing is invented. Every fact traces back to the notice it came from, and where a notice does not say something, the issue says so rather than guessing. Deadlines, NAICS codes, agency names, and contracting officer details are copied from the record, never paraphrased.
What it will not do
It will not tell you what to bid. Each entry points at the gate on an opportunity, the one requirement that decides whether it is yours, and stops there. That decision is yours, and the record is on SAM.gov.
Summaries and fit notes are editorial interpretations of public data and may contain errors. Always verify every detail, including deadlines, set-aside type, NAICS code, and eligibility, against the official SAM.gov record before responding to anything.
